(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I am not new to chickens. My husband and I had chickens on our property from 2010-2013, when we moved into the city limits and were no longer permitted to have them. We've been in our new home for two years now and I'm ready to get my chickens again! We'll be here in this home for at least 14 years.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
None now, but we used to have two: a golden comet and a barred rock.
(3) What breeds do you have?
See above.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I love to get to know the personalities of my chickens and, of course, love their delicious eggs!
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Gardening and hiking/kayaking/camping.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I have a nearly school aged daughter, two big dogs, and am a professional photographer.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I was a member of BYC long ago, but left the community when we had to sell our old house and I no longer had chickens. I'm interested in a community for education and support!
