    Greetings!

Among my chicks ordered this summer were supposed to be two Light Sussex. When they arrived they looked the same. Two little yellow fuzz butts. As they've matured however, it has become clear that one is not a Light Sussex. I'm leaning toward Rhode Island White. She's about 3 months in this picture. Thoughts?

    Thanks!

They're from Sand Hill Preservation Center. Also, I guess I didn't notice when they were chicks the different leg colors.

Could be a White Rock or a Cornish Cross.

What kind of comb does she have? Do Sandhill's RIWs have rose combs?

Quote: As far as I can see, Sand Hill doesn't sell White Rocks or Cornish anythings.

Quote: She has a rose comb, as do Sand Hills RIWs.

I thought it looked like a rose comb, but I couldn't be sure because I was looking at the pic on my phone. I thought Sandhill did have rose combed ones, like they SHOULD have (unlike the hatcheries). I couldn't remember at the time.

I would say she is a RIW. Looks like a hefty pullet too.

I'd be thrilled if she is! I actually tried to order RIWs last year but got my order in too late. :( And she's a hen, which is also a bonus! Guess I'll go with that unless someone tells me otherwise.
    Thanks!

If she has a rose comb, then she is probably a RIW.
