Ok, I was sold these two hens from a farmer. Said they were Rhode Island whites crossed with something (I think... it was awhile ago) Anyway, they both have yellow legs with some feathers?? Now Im not aware of any white chickens with feathered legs, but Im new. Any thoughts?

White langshans have feathered legs along with white silkies. Pretty sure there are others as well, the brain just not working that well at 530 am [IMG]. Could be that one parent was a dominate white (I aint the best in that department)

People often call anything that is white and not a Leghorn a RIW. That poor breed name gets abused and misused. The RIW has a rose comb and is an incredibly rare breed. 99% of the time, these mis-labeled birds have single combs and no evidence of rose comb in the genetics.

They're just mixes. They are chickens and probably be just fine. Since people always have this felt need to have some breed identifier, this kind of thing happens. 95% of the world's chickens aren't any breed.

If they are healthy and do well for you, that's great. Enjoy them.

They might be White Langshans, but I think that it is more likely that they are mixes.

No they are not white langshans, they have greyish slate legs. I'm with Fred's hens, look like some nice mixes. I was just giving some examples of white chickens with feathered legs.

Their legs are yellow, the photo is not showing the color correctly.
