Rice Hulls - Does anyone use

Hi - I live in CA and am knee deep ( not really) in mud. My coops are a mess. I have heard that rice hulls makes a good bedding materail. Does anyone use it - what are the plus and minus's??

I used them last summer. I found they worked well in my pens that stayed dry. If they get wet, they pack easily. The chickens love pecking around in the hulls looking for bits of rice.

The Warden uses rice hulls as bedding in her brooder...maybe she can help you with some pro's and con's.

I use them inside in my brooder and I am going to use them on the poop boards when the bag of shavings is gone. I don't think they would work well in a wet area.
