Ring! Ring! Isaac, You Have a Phone Call! Isaac SKYPES! See the Video of a Skyping Rooster!

We roused the old man at 6:30 p.m. to answer a special phone call from Kentucky. His lady love from Ky, otherwise known as Cetawin's daughter, Cheyenne, called to speak to my rooster, Isaac on Skype before leaving for school next week. Isaac skyped! He was admittedly a bit confused and drowsy (old men go to bed at 5 p.m., you know).You can hear him making little sounds when they are talking to him and looking all around, but he was a perfect angel standing on my kitchen counter, never made a move to leave. When he started finally looking at me and "yawning with his eyes", we decided he needed to continue his beauty sleep and let him go back to bed.

He is such a good boy and he sure loves Cheyenne. It made her feel better because she got to see him albeit not in person but see him nonetheless before she leaves home. Thanks Ike for accepting our call, you handsome sweetie!

Ya gotta amit that there is something special about a skyping rooster.

Well, of course, I think so! He's such a doll. Today, he didn't even want to go back to the coop when I went to let Deacon's side out. He went to flirt with the old ladies. Is he telling me he's ready to retire, too? I'd let him in there, except that if he mated Caroline, pushing on her big old crop, he'd probably kill her and Amanda's arthritic legs, and then, there's Fern who is going downhill fast. He's still vigorous enough that he wouldn't leave them alone.

He has been living the life of luxury without responsibilities of guard duty constantly. So he may be ready to let Deacon take over and snuggle with the old ladies in peace.

He deserves a rest. He's been on duty for a long time around here and all the hens respect him.
