I have some RIR that are 14 weeks old and you can really see a dfference in the comb size. I think you can tell from a pretty early age by the comb size. Hope that helps.
Quote:I am wondering too. Would the combs be bigger? Correct, Not tons bigger but by 6 - 8 weeks the roosters will have bigger ones !!
Quote:Do you have any pics of them so Edfewlass could get an idea ? Shucks...I dont have any right now. I will take some in the morning that will hopefully help!
Well Im not possitive but I have four RIR chicks that are 1 week old and I think I can tell the males from the female. The males grow there wing feathers alot faster. Here is a pic of the male and the female laying next to each other. The male is on top with the longer wing feathers. They were born on the same day, and the other two have the exact same length feathers. I'm not certain, but it sure seems that way to me. Chef
