I have a chick who's supposed to be a Red Star...but looks an awful lot like our RIR chick. What is she? She's 10-11 weeks old.

    Here's Ginger

Here's Claire, our definite Red Star

    And Flo, our definite RIR

She looks like my production reds who are just a bit lighter red the my RIRs. Where'd you get them?

all of the red sex links I have seen have some white mixed in...that looks to be a RIR. Both breeds are wonderful birds [IMG]

Ahh, a production red would make sense. What makes up a production red and how are they different from RIRs and Red Stars?

Yeah, she looks like the RIR but is a shade lighter, which is what made me a little confused. She also didn't look exactly the same when she was a baby so that threw me off too.

I got her from a local hatchery that hasn't turned out to be the best [IMG]

I think the production reds are a mix of rhode island and new hampshire.
