The dad is a rir roo and I don't know which of my hens is the mom....the Easter eggers are out bc the shell they hatched from is brown. I don't think they are from my Australorp, barred rock or rir hen. I'm thinking it's between my Silver Laced Wyandotte or my Buff Orpington. [IMG]Anyone know?

They look like my Easter eggers did with my last hatch.

Quote:those chicks dont look RIR x Buff orp to me... you see RIR and BO are both wheaten meaning they would hatch solid yellow/orange.. this chicks look more like RIR x Silver Laced Wyandotte would not look like them either, this cross RIR vs SLW will produce Sexlinks... Pullets gold with some stipping on the back and Males will look Silver with some Stripping on the back and head here is a nice pic of such a cross https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/375015/sexlink-thread-pictures-and-discussion/640#post_6520730 RIR cross with EE would produce similar results as SLW.. Those chicks that you are showing show alot of wildtype in them e+ , Their dad(RIR) had to mate with a different hen than what you are reporting...

I agree they do look like Easter eggers but I had no green eggs in this hatch.

Quote:EE do lay brown eggs, its not 100% guearantee they will lay blue/green eggs, unless they are Ameraucanas and that chick's comb does not look single comb... it looks like Pea Comb

The only Easter egger i have that has produced a similar chick in the past has always laid green eggs and the chicks have always hatched out of green eggs. This hen is almost 3 years old and so I find it highly unlikely she randomly lays a brown egg but who knows I guess. My other Easter egger is pure white and lays beautiful blue eggs. I guess I will be able to tell better when they get their feathers in. Thanks for your help.
