Can you sex link this cross?
Quote:My initial thought was no. In SL crosses the roo is the RIR and you cross to a white chicken, but what you're really looking for is the "silver" gene and I don't think white leghorns have it. Delawares, Rhode Island Whites and White Rocks can be used.
some white leghorn strains have the silver gene
50 years ago I crossed a RIR rooster on leghorn hens. If I recall correctly, all the chicks were white with black flecking. I do recall that the pullets were exceptional layers. I know that the hens matured to be primarily white with some black feathers. The cockerels we ate, but I think they were primarily white also.
