rock necklace

I want to start a new hobbie. Drilling holes in pretty pebbles to make necklace. Does anybody know what drill bit would work for drilling a hole in a rock.

You could try something for drilling in ceramic or glass, like a diamond bit.. Ask your dentist if he has any old (sterilized) drill bits.

Go very slowly, let the drill do the work and don't push hard or you risk breaking the bit. Be careful if you're holding it too.. You may need to use water to help lub the bit so it cuts quicker..

I think it'd be really hard to drill a hole into a pebble, just holding the darn thing still would be a challenge for me. I hope you have better luck than I imagine I would. However, if you try and it doesn't work out, consider maybe wrapping the pebbles in a thin wire that might be a cool look.

I use a diamond tip drill bit to drill through shells, and terra cotta pots. It should work for pebbles too.
