I have noticed my hen had about 5 eggs in her nest, the next day there was none,, hmm, no varmit has been getting in, i noticed a small hole that a couple squirrel were getting in to steal some free food, they ran when i entered the coop, fixed that spot,, then i noticed the rooster pecking at a broken egg on the ground, will the roo or the squirrel eat the eggs ?? can't be a case where there hungry as there is plenty to eat, new to the chicken raising and need some input , thanks

My hens lay them on the roost so they drop down and break and then the roosters eat them. [IMG] Too smart for their own good.
