Roo puberty question!

I was wondering when to plan on having fertile eggs! I just got a 6-8wk old RIR roo and need to know when to start leaving eggs in the coop!

4-6 months is about depending on the breed of roo. Some will mature quicker and some slower. And of course it depends on how old the hens are and whether or not they are accepting his advances.

i have 5 1 yaer old white rock hens who hopefully want to give me some red rock mutt chickies

I started getting reliable fertile eggs (near 100%) when my White Rock roo was about 8 months old. His first spring!

If you want a White Rock roo for pure White Rock chicks you are welcome to mine. He is healthy and fertile, fed certified organic feed. You can come up and get him for free (I am probably only 40 minutes from you)I am ready to try a different breed of roo to mix with my hens.
However, you will get sex-linked chicks with the RIR.
