My 13 week silkie roo has his mouth constantly open. I threw a mealworm in his water inwhich he attemped to grab so I hoped he get some water into him. He ate 3 mealworms but he still keeps his mouth open. He wants to be by himself. He shakes his head around too. I have looked for mites and found him to be clean. He really looks unhappy. What could be wrong with him. His poo seems ok

I would guess overheating if it were summer time but that shoudn't be an issue right now. I've heard that gapeworm can cause a chicken to hold it's mouth open but I know little about that. Has anyone out there had experience with gapeworm?
