Roost for chicks

My chicks are a week old & growing fast. I was thinking about putting something in there brooder for them to climb up on who knows maybe roost on it at night. I was thinking about a piece of 2x3 laying on the floor.

My question is it to early to do this & is a 2x3 OK?

I always put little roosts in....branch, brick, or 2x4. They don't always sleep on it but they use it for entertainment. I don't think it is to early, I have never had any problem.

You can definitely put a roost in. I used a craft Dowell and we used a branch.

We just put a "fat" stick in our brooder. The next morning when I checked on them - 4 of 5 were lined up on...I wish I'd gotten a picture!
