my lovely rooster that i have been nursing for sometime now has passed in the overnight. i was wondering if i scortched his feathers would they still come out?? rigimortis has set in and im not sure if that will hold the feathers in as well. i have never taken feathers of a chicken before i just feel he was sooo pretty and id love to save his feathers and not make it so wasteful.

    felicia

    thanks

Dip him in hot water to loosen up the feathers.

[IMG] so sorry he did not make it - you could make a dream catcher with his feathers - sending a hug [IMG]

i was actually thinking of that, as well as a head dress for my 3 year old nephew. also, i have seen girls with feathers in their hair lately and thought why not my own chickens? my DH thinks in crazy.
