Rooster features?

    Here's a picture of my eight week old Austrolorp. People said he's a boy because he has saddle feathers. What are saddle feathers?

    Saddle feathers are the feathers on the back just before the tail (where you would put a saddle presumably). They are usually pointed on a male and rounded on a female, although I'm no expert on gender ID so I can't say if you have a roo for sure.

    See the shiny long pointed feathers before the tail, over the wing? Those are saddle feathers.
