Rooster foot infected - broken?

Our 2 year old rooster has been limping a few weeks. I noticed his foot, especially his upper ankle and webbing were swelling up. After an Epsom salt soak, no scabs on the botton have ever been seen, to indicate bumblefoot. I also don't feel anything hard in the foots pad, like a kernel.... I did cut into his top webbing and drain quite a lot of puss infection. It doesn't seem to be resolving oneself, but not getting much worse. He's isolated in a kennel to take our easy. Is there something else I should do? Ideas?

It would be hard to know if this is bumblefoot, a joint infection, or a broken foot without an xray. Since you got pus out of it when you lanced it, it may be bumblefoot. I would continue soaking in warm Epsom salts, and if there seems to be more pus, it may need more treatment. An oral antibiotic may be helpful. FishMox is sometimes found at feed stores, or online. Dosage is 250 mg twice daily for 10 days. Here is a good link that shows bumblefoot on the top of the foot:
