I have a 4-year-old rooster who was attacked by another rooster and has a bum leg now for 4 weeks. I don't see any injury; his right leg is dead but warm. He cannot walk, but eats and drinks. The other day he started to crow again. What should I do? I've been
thinking I should put him down but feel sad about it. I bought him as a chicky and he is beautiful. Please advise. Thanks.

It sounds like he may have nerve damage in his injured leg that may or may not be permanent. Leg injuries, especially in roosters, can be very hard to heal. You could try placing him in a cage to force him to rest the leg for 2 weeks. Vitamins with minerals added to his food or water would be a good idea. Sometimes people also try chicken slings to get them upright while resting the leg. If he is to remain around another rooster, he may have a hard time, and get bullied.
