Rooster having a brain fart?

I have a question. Pigpen, my rooster, has been having what I call "chicken farts". He will be doing whatever he may be doing at the time and just freeze and stare into space. I wave my hand in front of his beak "Yoo-Hoo Earth to Pigpen" and he continues to stare like he's been hypnotized. Then, all of a sudden he continues on his way like nothing happened. It's like pausing a movie. Is this normal or is there something wrong with him?

i dont know but you make it sound funny as .... wonder if chickens can have seizures? only thing comes to mind if it is severe is encephalitis how old is poor ol pigpen?

they will stare up if a bird of prey or any thing bigger then them is above. mabey smaller too.

One of my buffs does that. She'll freeze and just stare off into space. If she's eating something, another hen will come along and take whatever out of her mouth while she is frozen.

Poor ol Pigpen is only 8 months old lol
