Hi everyone my rooster injured his knee 3 days ago and his skin turned dark purple/red around his knee and his foot and knee are swollen. And he is keeping his leg in the opposite direction. I started soaking his legs today in epsom salt. I don’t have access to good vets around here I was hoping someone can give me a bit of a guidance as to what to do.

Welcome To BYC

Can you post some photos?

Where are you located in the world?
I am in India I don’t have good vets here they are only available for cats and dogs. He has a new spot on his comb today it wasn’t there yesterday. And I applied turmeric on his leg I read somewhere it would make him heal.

Can you get some photos of all of him and how he stands?

I'm sorry, I'm still having trouble understanding the issue. You mention the leg being in the opposite direction? Is it twisted?

Some clear photos may be helpful.

If it's swollen, I think I would continue to do what you are doing. Soaking his leg and letting him rest. See that he's eating/drinking well.

He can’t stand on his own he stands when I hold him like this. And when he sits sometimes he’s holding his leg like that. The straight leg is the injured one here.

Here are more pics of him putting weight on his other leg

Poor guy:(

Is he having a hard time breathing? His comb is quite purple.

If the leg is bruised, then it may take time to heal.
I would consider trimming his nails shorter and cut back his spurs as well. This may help him balance better.
His comb changes it’s colour sometimes it’s pink sometimes it’s purple. He does gasp sometimes to breathe like he has stuffed nose.
I just feel so helpless I want him to get better and it feels like whatever I do is going in vain. Thank you so much for listening to me I will trim his nails hope this helps him.

I'll tag in @Saaniya to give some input as well. She's in India and has 2 lovely roosters. She may be able to offer some tips for you.
