Rooster sounds like he has laryngitis. This is 2nd week.started off slow then finally almost nothing by end of first week. He is 5 months old.

Vet tested poop for gapeworm. Treated him for gape although nothing found.
Now on oxytetracycline, day 4 of medication no improvement..
Eating, Just not as much.. Drinking, just not as much.
Free range-active
Coop-proper ventilation and fresh straw/mulch deep bedding

No nasal disharge
No rapid breathing
Not out of breathe
No puffy face
No watery/mucus eyes
No lethargy
No cough or wheezing
6 cohabitating hens with no symptoms, all healthy.
Comb and waddles red and healthy
Feathers look shiny and healthy

Any ideas?

How is your rooster doing?

Can you get a video of him? Upload video to youtube and provide a link.

How did you treat for Gapeworm?
Work Rock,

Thank you for asking. He has a visit to a different veterinarian today. His crow is gone. Barely a sound comes out when he crows just a light, faint and short "uh" sound. He is still eating. He's having oatmeal, corn, chicken feed, sunflower seeds, mealworms and wheat this mourning. He is still free ranging happily around the yard, mating with his favorite girl and doing his sexy rooster tap dance for them. So, all doesnt seem lost yet. Though I pray for him daily.

He was treated with blue liquid ivermectin for gapeworm. Applied to the skin. Approximate amount I can't remember, maybe 1cc or so.

He was given a different antibiotic by the old vet; Tylan. Started him on that yesterday. Hopefully the new vet today will have better insight. The old vet literally refused to see me stating; you can't learn much from seeing a bird. I'll post an update today after visit.

Don't have time today to film and upload a video unfortunately.

Edit; spelling

Update:

The second vet i went to was a waste of time. She'd never seen a rooster even though they initially said they did treat them.

I'm going to continue him on his course of Tylan antibiotics but outside of that there's literally nothing I can do. The closest vet that knows anything is nearly 2 hrs away.

She didn't know his anatomy and said she had to Google it. Pointless visit.

I hope you didn't have to pay for that!

I think you are on the right track. Try the Tylan. Also make sure his crop is emptying overnight, take a re-look inside his beak/throat to see if there's obstruction, mucous or yellow/white pasty material.

Going back over your first post, shoulda caught that - he was treated for Gapeworm, Ivermectin is not going to be effective for treating Gapeworm. IF you feel that Gapeworm might be an issue, then use Safeguard liquid goat wormer at a rate of 0.23ml per pound of weight given orally once a day for 5 days in a row.
Do keep in mind that a bird usually will not be eating/drinking/active if Gapeworm is an issue - they would be coughing, gaping, having respiratory distress, not eating/drinking.
