Rooster noises

Does anyone know why roosters start making a high-pitched clucking noise when you throw food out for them? Every rooster I've had starts this high pitched clucking noise when I throw feed or treats out. I don't know if they are clucking to the hens or what.
Any theories?

That's what I figured.
I apologize, I meant to introduce myself..I own Barred Rocks and Silkies, I live in Alabama and keep chickens for the eggs only and, of course, their company.
