I have a 3 week old Silkie and I'm wondering if anyone knows if it's a rooster or hen. It's probably still early to tell, but just wanted to see if anyone knows. Thanks![IMG]

Silkies are extremely difficult to sex before 4-5 mos. of age and sometimes not till they lay or crow. If I guess rooster - that's all it is a random guess, so don't hold me to it.

    Is this a hatchery silkie?

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. You chick is way too young to sex at this point. I would suggest posting its pic again in a couple of months in our What Breed or Gender is This? section and let our experts there take a look at it for you. If you haven't done so already, definitely check out our Learning Center at https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center. There is loads of useful information there. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Cheers.
