I’ve recently added 4 pullets to the chicken family. We got two pairs from two different breeders. Two of my girls are no doubt hens, but the other two are beginning to be a little questionable. I got these two from the same breeder, who told me they were the same age. I think my Ameraucauna might be a smidge bit younger than my Olive Egger (I believe a mix of Silkie and Ameraucauna), but if the breeder is correct on the age, they are both 6 weeks old. They both flip really well and don’t struggle when they are on their back, but I’ve seen some roo-like behavior from both of them. My olive egger likes to chase my other girls around and tends to pick fights with my Ameraucauna. They never get too aggressive, but they definitely chase each other around. My Ameraucauna is a little be more mellow tempered, but she (or he) is still significantly more active than my two blue Andalusian hens. I love within city limits, so having a roo is out of the question (unfortunately) I’m really hoping to get some opinions on what sex these two are so we can come up with a solution before the crowing starts! I love all my chickies, so fingers crossed!
