Rooster prefers run to coop

I have a leg horn rooster that as long as its not snowing, raining or windy liked to hang out on the ladder outside coop all night. Sometimes he blocks door way like protecting it other times sleeps on ground.
He has gotten frost bite several times doing this and doesnt seem to mind.
Was wondering if my guy was weird or other roosters do the same

My rooster is always in the coop at night but I do have a few hens that perch in the doorway and will stay there all night. I have noticed a few mornings that my flock will be out in the run before dawn just standing around like they are waiting on daylight.
