Well, it's official, I have a blue laced red wyandotte roo and my dominique is also a roo. [IMG]
Now that they have moved out to the coop, they are sparring a bit. My question, though, is about the BLRW. When he gets upset (or hot, or bothered) his skin around his eye area gets really red. Is this normal?!?

Yup. Roos seem to be able to alter the color of their ear lobes/face at will. [IMG] Mine do it too and they are going on 17 weeks old. I have not noticed this behavior in my hens, only in my roos. As far as I can tell, its normal. [IMG] I believe it has to do with the blood flow to that area and that they can control it. Similar to a human male....if you wanna get technical! lol [IMG]

Yeah, they blush when they get excited or scared. Hen's will do it too, I've seen my girls blush when they're in the nestbox and I crouch down to talk to them. [IMG]
