Rooster sets on chicks??

I have a Salmon Faverole rooster who was a freebie in a broiler order from the hatchery. He's always been gentle & takes care of his girls. Now that he has chicks, he has been an amazing daddy. Has anyone ever seen this? Not only does he walk around with them & point out food, he sits on them just like a mother would, & the chicks prefer to cuddle under him at night!

I have heard that some roosters will do that. I think it's very rare though. You must have a special guy.

I have a gentle and docile d'Uccle rooster that when his wife was lost to a predator when their chicks were about a week old completely took over the hen's job. The chicks slept under him until they were bigger then he was. At some point, all the 'chicks' would do is stick their heads under him.
