Rooster Spur hurt

Today while hanging out in the coop feeding em oatmeal I noticed my rooster lotto spur. I can't tell if its infected or its just broken. If infected how do I keep it clean? And do I need to file it? Thanks.

Looks like it recently broke off. I would just watch it and see. You can file it in a few weeks after it hardens over a bit again.

Does it appear to be infected? Not sure what he did it on. Thanks

Just looks like raw bloody tissue. You could always spritz it with bluekote.

I've never heard of bluekote. What exactly is that if you don't mind me asking? Tia

It's an antiseptic spray that can be used on all kinds of wounds. It stains hands and clothes so be careful about your spraying when using it. You can find it at most farm stores.

It looks like he injured it or broke it off clean.it with some Betadine water remove all the dirt stick there apply some petroleum jelly..

He’s not that old is he? Do you have any other roosters? Looks like he kicked something.

He's 2yrs there's other roosters but he is the only one that has his spurs.
