Rooster Spurs

    My silkie rooster has extremely long spurs that tangle up when he walks. Can these be trimmed?

    They can. Using a pair of dog nail trimmers work from the point gradually towards the base until the quick is reached. There will be some bleeding once you reach the quick. You can also grind them down using some sort of a sanding/grinding tool. Either procedure is a two person job.

    There are also ways to remove the spurs . Put "spur removal," in the search box and info will come up.
