As if integrating my little ones into the flock wasn’t already a challenge, my 8 week old rooster is trying to mate with a cute little 6 week old Easter egger. She was smashed and ruffled up before I broke them up. He is currently running around the house while I figure out how to separate him. I heard leghorns matures fast......

I just noticed my 2nd rooster that was supposed to be a hen chasing the hens too. It’s like they both snapped. They both have been crowing for a few weeks. My deceased rooster didn't start crowing until twice their age.

I decided to integrate both of them with the big birds. It had some drama but they are doing well. They spend a lot of time hiding under some shelters I nailed together.

Putting the cockerels in with the older birds is a good idea. They will teach them some manners and put them in their place, especially if you have an older rooster.

My older rooster was eaten by a fox when I was trying the free range thing. I bought 2 and ended up with 3. I'm hoping for 2 with decent temperament. The 3rd is a 6 week Welsummer that is still small and well behaved.
