Rooster troubles

Today our big RIR rooster was showing our slightly smaller mixed rooster no mercy. Poor fella was frantic to get away. He is sleeping tonight on our sunporch, but I need to figure out what to do. Is this something that will stop when pecking order is settled (they're about 6 months old)? I would like to keep both if possible because my girls are very attached. Any advice is appreciated!

Probably not. Maybe you could split the flock and give the little guy a couple of girls to hang out with and the big guy can have the rest, but as long as you have them both together get used to breaking up fights.

I tried putting him in with the 18 hens we're raising (he's more than twice their size) and they all went postal on him.
