Hello everyone, I hope you can help me and my beloved silkie rooster. I live in a rural area of Italy, there are no specialized vets around and no one can tell me what the problem is. From what they told me there is only one solution: to put it down. I would like to at least understand what disease it is, I am very sad because I am very close to him.
The rooster is 2yo and one year ago I treated him from scaly leg mites, using petroleum jelly and antiparasitic spray, then I disinfected the coop and the other ladies. A month ago the problem came back so I separated him again from the flock and I treated it with vaseline, spray, neem oil and some vitamines. The legs improved soon enough but I noticed some scabs on the skin of the body, which I tried to treat with the usual method. I do not see any mite on his body.
In the last week the situation has worsened. The rooster eats but has lost a lot of weight, spends the days standing still in one spot, he is lethargic but always standing, alternating hard and soft poo. He doesn't cockcrow anymore. As you can see from the photos he has scabs and ulcers all over his body and in the last few days some lumps have come out that are growing fast. These lumps are everywhere and are quite hard and of different shapes, the biggest one is about the size of a golf ball, some of them may resemble a lipoma.
I'm very worried because no one seems to help me, but I'm not ready to put him down even though it seems to be the sweetest solution for him. Thank you very much if you can help me and please excuse me if my English is not perfect. Best.
