Meet Pat... Rooster or Hen?
looks like a hen to me!
i'm going to say hen....what is her age?
Pat is around 5 months old now.
She is protective of the flock (5 total chickens) and has begun making some interesting "sounds" when I walk outside. While not a cock-a-doodle-do, Pat is definitely the loudest of the chickens. Is that normal for a hen?
At 5 months, I say hen and close to laying.
Looks like a pullet.
If she's 5 months old, you'll have eggs soon!
I don't know if there's any facts out there to back me up, but I noticed that my hens' combs went through a growth spurt right before they started laying.
You got yourself an egg layer. Soon to lay, too!
Quote:my RIR hen's comb did the same thing...one day hardly nothing...the next it was like "were did that come from?" LOL
Pat-pullet about to lay.
