I feel plenty silly at this point, but I only just read on the Seattle Tilth website that you can have three chickens, and it didn't specify that you cannot have roosters. Have I missed something there or is it really okay to have a roo? I finally got my hands on a gorgeous Penedesenca rooster and hens and I would love to breed them, but had thought that that dream would have to be let go of as the city doesn't allow roosters.

How many of you are within the city limits and have roosters?

    Thanks for the input!

I had a cockerel that, at 12 weeks old, went to my friend's farm in Olympia. I visit him. So, I used to have a roo, but not now. You're right, roosters are not illegal in Seattle. However, if you keep one, you'll still have to contend with any noise ordinance issues -- similar to a neighbor with a barking dog. Depends how noisy the animal and how sensitive are your neighbors.
