Why do roosters crow at all hours?
To have something to do. Ive got a couple that will crow, all ours of the night too.
ETA: Welcome to BYC.
They will crow when ANYthing disturbs them, it is there way of warning/protecting the flock.
Roosters crow at night when they are disturbed. They will crow when they hear alot of noise (any that is or is not normal, so long as it's at night) and when they see something that bothers them.
Mine roo started crowing at 3:30 this morning. I knew something was up. Soon my motion detector light on my back porch clicked on and I watch three raccoons wrestling. So yes, the crow when they are threatened.
Ive got 2 that crow about 3:30 or 4 every morning. Nothing out there they are just crowing.
