What am I missing? They look identical. I was thinking the wheaten had more of a sun-kissed hackle, but is that always the case? I have 13 roos, 10 are supposed to be wheaten, 3 are BBR. Want to only keep 3 wheatens... Any help is appreciated! Thanks!
Might need to ask this on the oegb thread in the breeds, genetics and showing section on the main forum.
Quote from the bantam standard: " It has long been established that the Wheaten male is an overall lighter colored bird than the BBR. When the Weaten bred male is shown in a class of BB Reds, he has a brighter, more flashy or showy appearance." I don't know if this helps any. lol
Luckily you can cross compare--and this is only for show standard, so if they are slightly off-type it will make it very hard on you: Head BBR-Orange-red Wh-Light Orange Hackle BBR- orange, red Wh- Light Orange Saddle BBR- orange red Wh- Light Orange Wing Bows BBR- Deep Red Wh- Reddish Bay
