Roosters or hens

    I have 4 Rhode Island Reds there about 15 weeks. All have big combs are these hens or roosters check out pics and please help me out

    in the first picture (i think that you tried to post more but only one showed up) the two with big combs are roos, the other one is a hen and i can't see the head on the other

    Three cockerels, one pullet. Look like red rangers "meat birds" to me rather than Rhode Reds with their lighter color and heavy build.

    Yep, the two on the right are definitely roos! And then one pullet and the other chicken I can't see very much of so I don't know [​IMG]

    I have 2 rhode island reds also. When do the cockerels start cock-a-doodling???

    Those birds in the pic are a meat hybrid called "red rangers". But any breed of chicken can start crowing as young as a few days old. most don't figure it out until around 12-18 weeks.
