didn’t realize they were so young. sooner the better for at least interacting but separated until they are similar in size/plumageThe three outside are 14 weeks old, the indoor bird is 9 weeks, they saw each other every day from 6-10 weeks of age for the older ones and 0-4 weeks for the younger. They have been seeing each other On and off from then on outside, see but don’t touch . The younger one is slow to feather so can’t be outside all the time yet.
He spends time at night in a cat run in my bedroom, he spend day time running around on sheets on my floor and bed and also in a travel cot when I have to leave the room, I spend most of my time picking up poo and playing with him, he was the only chick to hatch form my first attempt at incubationYou have a rooster living in your actual house or chicken house? Can the roosters see each other and communicate even though separated? i haven’t combined adult roosters together that didn’t “grow up” together...but if I was going to do it, I would put them in an area where they are fenced off from each other but safely interact and see how they do. I’d probably keep it like this until you were certain you didn’t see signs of abnormal hostility between either party. I am interested to see how this goes. I have one rooster in my flock and love having a rooster. Even after I switch out my current layers in the future I want to keep this rooster and wouldn’t mind having another. Keep us posted. My grandpa mixed roosters together when he used to sell hatching eggs but he had a pretty small amount of roosters compared to 1200 hens. I’ll ask him if he has any advice and get back to you.
