Ok, I have two 16 week old americana roosters that are destined for the stew pot this winter. They have become sexually mature and are very aggressive, rough, mean whatever you want to call it with the hens and last week I (and my hens) had enough of their puberty.
So I set up two wire dog crates and put them on death row.

Well they just kept knocking over their water container and basically just walked back and forth, back and forth and one of the reason for the death row cell was to put extra weight and fat on them and from what I was seeing that wasn't going to happen.
So this past weekend I just decided to boot them outside the coop and run during the day and put them in their cell at night. During the day they just hang outside the run, seem to be very relaxed.
Much to my amazement in just three days all I have to do is open the human door at dusk and they go on in AND they actually run into their cells.
Who would have thunk it??
