And how they got up there I have no idea. About 2 feet from the floor and 2 weeks ? old.

I’ve seen two week old chicks fly 3 feet horizontally and two feet vertically up. They were on top of my nesting boxes and Mama told them to come on up to join her on the roost for the night. It was obvious watching them that they could have gone a lot further if she told them to. A lot of what they do is about motivation. A broody seems to be able to motivate them. Jut the desire to perch may be enough motivation for some.
