Rosie laid her first egg!

Rose here laid her first brown egg. Most of my flock are almost 7 months old. I'm assuming the others will soon follow. The white ones are from my game hen.

I share your joy! I, too, have seven-month old pullets who are just this week beginning to lay. It seemed like it was taking forever for them to pop out those first eggs so I fed them some red hot pepper flakes with their food. I had never put much stake in that method for getting eggs out of your chickens, but I'll be darned if one didn't produce an egg that very day! Maybe there's something to the pepper thing after all.

My barred rock just laid her first egg today, after my buff Orphington! My 3 year old son and I are so happy!
