Rotting stump in run

Is it ok to put a rotting stump in the run for the girls to peck at? I hope so they SURE are having fun getting the bugs!!!

They should enjoy it

It may also have termites though.
That could be bad if your coop isnt treated material

Thanks, Our Cuckoo Maran didn't want to go roost she was so into the stump!! I'm always trying to find fun things to keep them busy. Termites aren't a problem in our area.

One rotting stump = hours of bugs and enjoyment for chickens! I wouldn't worry too much about termites. My girls think they are TASTY and I doubt one would ever make it over to the coop alive!
