my first ducklings
From what I can see, the front one is a Mallard, and the back one is a Rouen... Cute, though!
OMG There are two ducks! I didnt even see #2.
i read somewhere about them forming angel wing if i give them chick starter feed. is this correct?
No. A LOT of people on here (Not me) feed their ducks NON medicated chick starter, and they do fine on it.
Also, this is more of a "Fun-fact" sort of thing, but angel wing (Luckily) isn't harmful to non flying ducks. For the flying ones, it only makes them incapable to fly.
thanx for the help
No problem! If you have any other questions, just ask!
Hi, I am attaching a post that I found interesting regarding angel wing. I particularly like Duck_feeder's reply. Hope it helps.
heres a close up of the same ducklings, maybe this will help see them better
Looks like front Mallard (one eye stripe and a dot), back one a Rouen (2 eye stripes). Are they the same age? The Rouen will grow much faster and get much bigger than the Mallard, but it looks like the Mallard is bigger. Add 100 mg of crushed Niacin (NOT the no flush kind - the regular Niacin) to 1 gallon of water for all your duckies, but the Rouen especially needs it. They can grow so fast that their leg strength doesn't keep up! Mine used to walk a few steps, then sit, then walk a few steps then sit. Once I used the Niacin....no problem any more.
Congrats on your new babies!
