We have a chick about 1.5 months old. She has all RSS symptoms, stunted growth, weak legs, pale beak and legs/feet. My question is, is this something transmitted or harmful in anyway to humans? Are we ok to handle this bird as usual? I have read and researched so much but nothing addresses this. Hoping someone here knows. TIA!

There are other conditions that can cause stunted growth in chicks as well. RSS is a pretty rare condition. Where did you obtain the chicken from and was it the only one?
Have you tried any treatments?
Also, where in general are you located?
I realize I'm not answering your question, chickens can carry a lot of pathogens and we should always take good care when handling them or anything in their environment. I haven't found any indication that RSS poses any risk to people.
