Rubber mulch mat under electric netting?

Trying to think of a way to keep grass fom growing under our new electric netting. (Will not use round up)

Anyone try the rubber mulch edging?

I'm trying to figure out what to use under my electric fence too. I don't think rubber will work because the animal needs to be touching the ground in order for the electricity to work. There's a video of a person touching it wearing shoes and it not working and then standing directly on the ground and then getting shocked. I'm going to try putting down weed cloth covered with wood chips that extends 1' on the outside of the fence and about 3" on the inside and hopefully the chickens will keep the grass down on the inside.

Cut up feed bags and use landscape mails to hold them down.

Add a second wire close to the first wire and attach this second wire to ground, although the voltages involved in electric fence would likely jump through the feed bag.

Another suggestion I had forgotten but saw on another thread: boiling water. It works.
I've also heard vinegar kills plants.
