So today my golden laced wyandotte Dorothy died. I borught her to the vet for a necroscopy because she and some of my other chickens have runny noses. I guess the good news was that she didn't die from the respiratory problem, the vet said the runny nose was a very minor problem as there was no other respiratory issues internally besides a bit of a runny nose. Apparently Dorothy died because her blood vessels burst and she bled out internally. The vet told me its not usually seen in chickens, more in turkeys but that was definitely what killed her. I am sad that we lost her, but at the same time relieved that the others in my flock should be okay (they all seem fine, eating, drinking, running around). The vet also said that Dorothy had a weak immune system and she would have died from the same thing sooner or later, it was just awaiting something to set it off. Poor little Dorothy. She will be missed!
