Saddles won't stay on

I put saddles on my hens because my Roo has made their backs raw. Trouble is: they keep coming off. I'm finding them in the run. I got reg. size saddles because my hens are ISA Browns which I think are a regular size hen. Any suggestions on how to keep them on?

I have 7 hens but only 4-5 need the saddles. I guess he doesn't bother all of them. LOL Thx. I thought maybe they were too big.

Try putting to the boy in a cave of his own till you get it figured out

You can trim his Spurs also. Some breeds have softer feathers so wear off easier.

Bare back hens seem to bother people more than they do chickens. And some hens just get bare backs much more easily. This time of year, mine are coming out of molt and the feathers should be growing back, and the rooster should be slowing down for winter, so the feathers will be growing back.

I too, tried the saddles years ago, and gave it up. I watched my girls, and they seemed perfectly happy, so I quit worrying about it.

Actually, I did that to my previous roo . It's quite a job requiring 2 people but maybe I'll try that again.
