Safe removal of plastic spiral leg bands

Any tips before I need to do this? The day-olds arrived with bands on, and I know they flex, but I have been thinking of removing them from one or two ducklings a day (not making it a big mass trauma event, just one little trauma at a time).

These are the spiral plastic bands.

We used a nail clipper. Since the gap is small, it's much harder to accidentally cut their leg

We used a pair of tin snips... It worked with no injuries.

I use wire cutters, or nail clippers, it's no big deal to them, just snip them off before they get too tight and cut of circulation
