Safe to let silkie hen raise 6 newbie Orp chicks in coop with flock?

My silkie hen has been doing a great job keeping my new mailorder chicks warm. I am a bit concerned that the rest of the flock might harm the chicks at some point. Is it ok to leave the hen in there with the babies? It's cold out so I figured it's the warmest spot for them. I keep the flock locked out of the coop during the day and they return at night to the coop. So far they have been mildly curious, but mostly annoyed with the change in routine and eager to get at the chick raiser high protein crumbs. But no aggression.

Sounds like they will tolerate the chicks fine. Silkies are generally such good mamas, and the mama is suppos4ed to keep the chicks safe from other hens. Sometimes the rooster helps her.

I've raised a few broods in with the flock. I think you're already over the hump. Sometimes a hen will kill chicks, but it sounds like this would have already happened if it were going to.
