New here on BYC, living in North San Diego County. Looking for information on what to do with my new flock. Went with a flock of 6 1 day old chicks (2 Americana, 2 Buff Orpington, 1 Barred rock & 1 Blue Andalusian). We were looking for quiet, friendly, colorful egg layers.

Greetings from Kansas, Groucho, and [IMG]! Great to have you aboard! I think you have selected some nice and diverse breeds! I think you can find some valuable information in the Learning Center here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center
The Raising Baby Chicks section in the Learning Center will be helpful to you at this stage of the game.
And, if you'd like to chat with some of your poultry owning neighbors, find the CA thread in this link and say howdy: https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/26/where-am-i-where-are-you
Best wishes and thanks for joining BYC!

Nice choice of hens for colorful eggs. We have a few color egg layers for the same reason :)
